TeachStart Fellows may be given a day-to-day or a long term assignment during the program.
- Day-to-day assignments are temporary, short term assignments that may last anywhere from 1-2 days up to a week.
- Long term assignments are typically for the duration of the school year. Fellows in long term assignments will work at a single site, which will be considered their home school.
TeachStart Fellows are expected to accept their first subbing/paraprofessional assignment given by their education consultant.
Failure to accept an assignment within a one hour commute by car will result in an unpaid workday.
If a Fellow fails to accept an assignment within a one hour commute by car three or more times, they may be dismissed from the program.
A TeachStart Fellow’s assignment is determined by the following criteria:
-
Grade-level preference
-
Desired credential (Scholar+ only)
-
Commute time (not to exceed 1 hour by car)
-
Partner school needs
